Convert MDE Database File to MDB Database File

If you have your database files in MDE file format and you want to convert them into MDB database file format then we will guide you how to convert the MDE file into MDB file. Follow the directions given in the points mentioned below:

  • Import all the forms and reports at one go through the utilization of Serge Gavrilov’s free tool “MDE forms/reports extractor v1.1″.

  • Import macros using Serge’s “SaveAs/LoadFrom Text File v1.0″ which is free to download. This enables you to export macros from MDE files one at a time to text files. User can then use the same add-in in their new database and import the macros. In case of large number of macros, users have to perform conversion through third party software.
  • In order to regenerate VBA code from the macros, select the “Convert Macros to Visual Basic” from the Macros Menu on the Tools Menu in Access. This works in at least Access 2002 and the user may have to edit the VBA to get it to pile up.
  • Resolve your requirement. The tables and queries are indigenously importable from MDE’s into a new database. However, if in case you only have the front end of database or some of the table links are no longer valid, you might get an error with the tables and may not be able to import them. In case this is the case, you can switch to use of third party advance Access repair tool.

    • However, in cases mentioned above there are chances that the file may become inaccessible or corrupt. In such situations, we suggest that before performing the steps mentioned above, the user must keep a copy of the original file. And if there is no backup left, you will require an advanced Microsoft Access repair tool called Kernel for Access.
