Resolve Error Number 3197
While using Microsoft Access, you may receive following error message having error number 3197:
The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time.
Cause of the Error
There can be following two reasons behind the occurrence of the specified error message:
The database file where your data is stored has gone corrupt.
More than one users are trying to simultaneously access a long value column having OLE or MEMO data type.
When the Jet engine 3.x tries to access data from a long value column, which has already been accessing by any other user then the Jet engine 3.x cannot accurately read the data and throws the specified error message.
Solution
You can opt any one of the following two solutions to resolving the specified error message:
Compact the Access database from which you are accessing the data. You can use the JETCOMP.exe to compact the database. Compacting the database reduces the size of the MDB file.
Use Access database repair tool to repair the database from which you are trying to access the data.
